FEBRUARY CURRENTLY

Is it really already February?

I'm linking up with Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade for this month's currently.

Listening - Not bad Idina!  My favorite is still Whitney Houston's version.

Loving - My parents flew in from Guam about a week ago.  I am so thankful that they get to be here for the birth of my first child!  They've been really helping around the house and helping me prepare baby's room too.

Thinking - I'm still trying to gather everything my long term substitute needs to take over.  I wonder if someone has an editable long term sub product.  Thank goodness I don't have to write actual lesson plans.  My awesome team leader is going to have the sub plan with the team.

Wanting - I have so many products started.  If baby comes sooner than expected, it may be a while before they get done and posted.

Needing - Two baby showers = lots of thank you notes!  I really need to get these done!

Pageant Title - Little Miss Sugar Cookie.  I love baking and decorating sugar cookies!

Go SeaHawks!

Now it's your turn to link up.

Enjoy the rest of your Superbowl Sunday!

Five for Friday

It's Five for Friday time with Doodle Bugs Teaching!

My week started off with back to back baby showers!
My husband and I had so much fun celebrating the upcoming birth of our first child
with all of our friends and family.

Baby shower number one was thrown by my best friends from school.
It was a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme.

Isn't this caterpillar made of diapers so cute?!

The cake was both adorable and delicious!

Baby shower number two was thrown by my family.  The theme was Once Upon a Time.

The cake was so pretty and very tasty!

The cookies were adorable!

We wrapped up our unit on contractions this week.
The kids and I made several anchor charts together.

The anchor charts are hanging in our classroom
and are some of the kids' favorite charts to read when they are at Read the Room station.

The kids practiced reading contractions by playing the Chocolate Covered Contractions game.
Two game boards are included but, we just used the cards (printed in gray scale).
It was so cute to watch their expressions when one of them would pull a Yum! card.

I got to meet my long term substitute this week!  I was getting a little worried because it was taking a long time to find someone to take care of my class.  I am so relieved now!  She is willing to come in and spend a week with us and is very eager to take over for me.  I think my kiddos are in good hands!

My hospital bags are packed and ready to go.  We are so ready to meet this little one!

Now it's your turn to link up!

Have a great night!

Currently 2015

I'm a day late, but here we go anyway!

It's time for another Currently with Oh' Boy 4th Grade!

Oh the life of a dog!  She's not really supposed to be on the couch, but I can't help it!  I love snuggling with her!

This year, my husband was actually home during most of my break.  We got to spend Christmas day together AND ring in the New Year together!  I'm so used to him being away during this time of the year.  Guess that's the life of a pilot's wife!

Is it lunchtime yet?  My niece made some delicious Zuppa Toscana soup for us last night AND she shared the recipe with me!  I may not need to get my fix at Olive Garden anymore.  Now, if I can just figure out how to make those garlic bread sticks.

I love putting up all the decorations but taking them all down is another story!  Any takers?

It's Friday before we have to go back and reality is starting to set in!  I need to get up off this couch and get prepared to go back.  Thank goodness the kids don't come back until Tuesday.  Hopefully we don't get stuck in meetings all day Monday and actually have time to prepare for their return!

With my first baby set to arrive in February (Thank you Lord for answering our prayers!!), I definitely need to start getting more organized!  I've been really wanting to start running.  When I get the okay, my goal is to start and bring baby along!  I've been enjoying my time off...how about one more week?  I wish!

Now it's you're turn to link up.  Just click here.

Happy New Year everyone!

Operation E.L.F.

The awesome Krista from Creative Clips has come up with a wonderful idea for this holiday season!

Operation E.L.F. has begun!  Not only does she generously offer some of her always fabulous clip art for free, you'll find a Selfless Challenge page.  What a great way to remind us that random acts of kindness go a long way!

I used her adorable Elf Penguin clip art to create these FREE Place Value Penguin task cards.

So...come on and join Operation E.L.F. and participate in the Selfless Challenge!

Have a great evening!

Five For Friday

This will be my first time linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

Every year, the teachers put on a show for the students on the last day of school.  Our music teacher did an awesome job of putting together a great mix of some of the latest hits and each team did a little dance routine.  My team danced to Frozen's "Let it Go."  It was pretty neat to hear the entire school singing along to the song as we danced.  I have to say that this year's show was the best yet!  I'm not sure how we're going to top it next year!

Yesterday, we actually got to go out to lunch as a team.  I'm sure a lot of you will agree with me that a one hour lunch out with the team is a big deal!

I love these ladies!

Sooo...those printer people really know how to get ya!  I bugged and bugged my hubby to get a laser color printer for me.  He finally found the one I wanted at a great price.  Well, I finally ran out of ink and went to buy more on Monday.  Yikes!  It cost an arm and a leg (even with the $30 off the manager gave me).  Like I said, those printer people really know how to get ya!  Don't get me wrong,  I love my printer and how the colors come out so crisp and bright.  I'm just going to be real careful and watch how much I print!

My students spent the last three days of school working on their memory books.  They did such a great job!

One of my good friends helped me organize my classroom library today!  We put the books in alphabetical order by title and used paint sticks as dividers.  Of course, this was an idea I saw on Pinterest.  I wanted to do a little more organizing but summer was calling so it looks like I'll be doing it when we get back in August.  Ha!

MOTHER'S DAY GIFTS

Boy did I procrastinate this year!  It wasn't until Tuesday when I really started to think of what my students will make for Mother's Day gifts.

As I was walking through Michael's yesterday, I came across some silk flowers.  The flowers reminded me of my principal at my previous school and her flower pens.  At the beginning of every year and during holidays, our principal would give us these flower pens.  She gave us so many that we were able to make "floral arrangements" with them!  That's when I decided to have the kids make flower pens for their mothers.  One can never have too many pens, right?   Especially pretty ones!

I didn't spend a whole lot on the materials.  The flowers were 60% off.  The roll of floral tape was less than $2.00 (one roll was more than enough to wrap 40 pens).  The pens came in a pack of ten for $.97.  The tags were made from index cards and the ribbon was left over from my teammate's baby shower.

The pens weren't hard to make at all.  The kids caught on really fast.  The only thing I really helped with was cutting the flowers and tying the pens into a mini bouquet.  For the finishing touch, we sprayed some nice scent on the flowers.  That was their favorite part!

I have to say that the pens turned out nice!  Not bad for the last minute.

What kind of Mother's Day projects are you doing in your classroom?
