SIGHT WORD GAMES

I recently added two sight word games to our word work station and all of a sudden I was THE best teacher ever.  Of course, that's the same reaction I got when I added the stamps and the beads and the sight word graphing sheets too.  Ha!  I just love my kiddos.  Honestly though...their reactions are good reminders to keep things fresh and new!

Five in a Row is popular with the kids.  They get quite competitive when they play.  I love it when I hear them repeating the name of the word they need to win when they spin the spinner.  "Come on and, and, and, and!"  That's when I know they are really practicing those sight words!

Race to the Top is the second game I added.  The kids practice reading and writing their sight words with this game.  I have my kids say each letter as they write the word.  I find that the kids learn their words better when they do that.  Notice how the word 'when' is circled?   The kids came up with the idea of circling the word they think will win.  Of course, the word they choose happens to "win" almost every time they play.

If you are interested in these games, please check out my Sight Word Games pack.

A NEW LOOK and A HUGE GIVEAWAY

Folks, you are looking at my new and improved blog design!  Don't you just love it?  Parker from PJ's Design Laboratory did a wonderful job putting it all together.  If you would like to see more of his awesome designs, be sure to check out his site.
Thanks Parker!
 I love it!

I don't know about you but I am so glad Spring and some nicer weather is finally here.  We actually had two ice days here in Houston which is not very common.  Of course, we have to make up those days.  Boo!

Well, if Spring and the nice weather isn't enough to excite you...this surely will!  Teacher Tam is hosting a HUGE Hoppin' Good Weather giveaway!  Be sure to head on over to her blog soon and enter because it all ends on April 17th!

Meanwhile in the kitchen...

Here's how the sock moneys turned out.  I was a little worried because first, I waited until the last minute to start on them and second, I didn't have a sock monkey cutter.  I ended up making my own template and hand cutting them.  I guess they aren't so bad.

I also made some princess crowns and wands for my goddaughter's Pinkalicious Birthday Tea Party. Thirty-eight out of the forty made it all the way to Guam!

Have a great weekend everyone!

BROWN-EEES and CURRENTLY

Ya'll I am SO BLESSED to be on such an awesome team!

We get along, we help each other out, we laugh and we cry together.

Today, we decided to have a little fun with our team leader.  We "baked" her some "brownies" to show her how much we appreciated her.  She realized she had been April fooled when she pulled off the foil to find a pan full of brown Es!  It was too funny!  Of course, we had the real stuff later on that day...and yes, they were YUMMY!

I'm linking up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for this month's Currently.

Listening - I love The Voice!  I love it a lot better than American Idol (sorry Idol fans).  The talent is just so much better on this show!  Plus...Adam Levine is not all that bad looking!  I got to see him in concert recently at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Loving - Everyday the entire school meets in the gym for a morning assembly we call Rise and Shine.  This week, my kids are in charge of presenting and they are rocking it!  I am so proud of them!

Thinking - I can't believe that almost five years ago, I went home for a week to be with my sister and her new baby girl who is my goddaughter.   I get to see her again this summer...I can't wait!

Wanting - Okay...he's home now.

Needing - I've known about this order for a month now.  Eeek!  Sock Monkeys aren't very complicated right?  I hope not!

Hours and Last Day - Last year, our hours were 7:00 - 3:00.  I wish we didn't change it!  I loved getting home early!

It's your turn now!
